Canterbury Hockey has 4000+ members and 50+ clubs/teams playing all year round
The Canterbury Hockey Association is responsible for the administration of hockey in Canterbury.
They aim to
- Offer the widest possible opportunities for all people to participate in the game of hockey and to make hockey a readily accessible sport for all.
- Provide all participants with the opportunity to excel by developing their game to their chosen or actual potential.
- Provide a healthy social environment for participants and others associated with the game of hockey.
They are a well governed and managed non-profit sporting incorporated society based at Nunweek Park, Harewood, Christchurch. Their members are made up of affiliated clubs and schools.
New Zealand Hockey
Hockey in New Zealand has been around since the 1870s. The first club being formed in 1876. Since then the sport has continued to increase in popularity and participation. With men’s and women’s teams with a proud tradition of representing the country
The sport is governed by Hockey New Zealand. And is a full member of the International Hockey Federation
There are 32 provincial hockey association, organised into 8 regions. Between them They have over 50000 registered members
